Torontói Emlék- or Souvenir of Toronto. A Romani waltz from Hungary composed by Sandor Jaroka Jr. Over the course of five or so years, I was fortunate enough to study with some of the greatest Sinti and Manouche guitarists in Europe. This particular tune was often played at the teachers' concert at the close of a guitar camp near Eindhoven in The Netherlands that I went to a few times. The teachers performed on a hay wagon on the grounds of a kind of scout hall/community centre that served as our campsite for the week of the classes. I can still remember their silhouettes as it got dark when this tune was played. The tune and the feeling behind it best represent that time for me.
